This course teaches the student the theory of backflow prevention device design and operation and the testing procedures for backflow preventers, including identifying problems and troubleshooting backflow preventers.  Students also learn the laws, ordinances and operating rules for cross connection control as well as degree of hazard, hydraulics and installation requirements.  The couse prepares the student to take the California-Nevada American Water Works Association certification exam and local county exams.

There is a demand for this course as people are looking to make a career of backflow testing.  Plumbers and landscape irrigation installers are looking to add backflow prevention device testing to their list of services.  Those already in the water industry are frequently required by their job description to be certified as a backflow prevention device tester.
