This hands-on, project-based course incorporates various areas of STEM. Students will learn about different types of energy - electricity, thermal, light, sound, and mechanical. While working on their projects, students will explore electricity and magnetism as they build motors and circuits. They will also explore the potential of light and sound, and how these can be converted to different forms for us to use. This course falls under the Communication, Critical Thinking and Personal and Social Institutional Level Outcomes.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand:
- The interaction between electricity and magnetism, the properties of each, and how they work
- The energy carrying properties of electricity, light and, sound
- The conservation of energy and power as it is converted between electrical and mechanical uses
