In this project-based course, students will learn about the inventing and the invention process. They will explore the characteristics of inventions and how inventing has shaped people’s lives throughout history.  Participants will complete a step-by-step process to innovate a current idea or invent an original idea that solves a problem or need. This course falls under the Communication, Critical Thinking and Personal and Social Institutional Level Outcomes.  
 
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Understand the inventing process - from the identification of a problem, thinking of an idea for a solution, designing and building, and testing the invention.
  • Communicate their design, building process, and their findings through demonstrations and presentations of their invention.
  • Demonstrate the importance of critical thinking and how it can lead to new or better solutions to our problems.
