Multi-Media Art Experience 6th - 8th Grade

In this course, students will be exposed to various art mediums and artists.  Each week we will cover a different art medium. The students will explore painting, sketching, music appreciation, and photography and expand their creativity with each distinction. The course will survey artists such as Kahlo, Picasso, Van Gogh, Hockney, Leibovitz, as well as various classical and contemporary musical composers. Students will develop skills in composition, photographic and painting aesthetics, symmetry, musical composition, and they will navigate the many skills throughout each art medium.  It should be noted that no prior experience in photography, painting, or music is necessary to enjoy this course and students of all experience levels are welcome to participate.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 
  • Develop essential skills to brainstorm, plan, and generate their own creative works through various mediums
  • To identify artists, art forms, and describe the cultural significance of various works
