Reading:  Reading with a Purpose
In this course, students will explore reading and language in a learning station environment which will engage students in individual or small group activities. These learning stations will be used to target specific skills. They will create interest, provide practice, and stimulate discussion. The goal is for students to become better readers of nonfiction informational text, other literature, and poetry as they learn to cite evidence from the text and practice ELA Common Core State Standards.  Students will participate in dialogue and discussion with fellow classmates on the text being read. No experience necessary to be successful in this class.  This course falls under the Communication, Critical Thinking and Personal and Social Institutional Level Outcomes.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Be better able to read and comprehend all genres of literature.
  • Work collaboratively in order to make reading a fun and fulfilling experience.
