ID : 56227
« back to classes page
The Introduction to Astronomy class will give you a front row seat to a view of our Solar System and beyond.  Students will enjoy several trips to the Planetarium for special presentations projected on the dome of the theater.  We will experience stargazing through the telescopes in our Observatory.  Students will also participate in lab type activities including building their own telescopes and rockets.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to:
Have an understanding of the basic structure of the solar system; it's size and scale, it's motion, as well as interactions between the sun, the planets and moons.
Have experience using a telescope, learning how it works, and constructing their own.
See the development of space travel- from the beginning to the present, and build and launch their own rocket.
