The Heartsaver CPR AED Courses are designed to prepare people to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) use in a safe, timely, and effective manner. The course goals include cognitive and psychomotor objectives.
Students must bring the current textbook to class. Books can be purchased at

?
This class is good for teachers, coaches, fitness club workers, foster parents, and the general public.
This course falls under the Critical Thinking and Personal, Social, Civic, and Environmental Responsibility Institutional Level Outcomes (ILOs).
Upon the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
Recognize when someone needs CPR
Preform high-quality CPR for an adult
Describe how to preform CPR with help from other bystanders
Give effective breaths by using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
Use an AED on an adult
Preform high-quality CPR for an infant
Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child
Help a choking infant
Describe how to help someone with drug overdose emergencies
Describe the techniques that help prevent drowning emergencies
